Women of Distinction Luncheon 2018
Art Direction + Design

The Women of Distinction Luncheon is a signature fundraising event hosted by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX). At the luncheon, local leaders of the Dallas community who champion girls are honored, and many local supporters of GSNETX attend to invest in the organization. 2018 was the first year GSNETX did not hire an outside consultant to do the art direction for the event and I was tasked with the project. The theme of the year revolved around leadership and the concept that the life-giving lessons instilled by the Girl Scout program can empower girls to become those strong female leaders in the community one day (like the ones being honored at the event).

I was inspired by the Pop Art movement and the CMYK effect, but with a Girl Scout twist. The concept of overlaying the “future self” of what a Girl Scouts could become was then born. The idea was to find women who were looking ahead at the bright future they had forged for themselves and depicting the young women they were as Girl Scouts. This look was youthful and vibrant. I wanted to find a way to use the Girl Scout brand colors in an interesting and unique way and opted for the gradients to complement the overall vibe. My favorite piece from this project was the invitation. I worked with a printer to source vellum envelopes that would allow me to create a tangible depiction of the overlay concept. The invitations required a lot of detailed information, and it was my challenge to ensure all those details fit in a single envelope.
